With the launch of the GLOBAL MOBILITY TALKS, Relocation Services Strohmayer starts the discourse about the most important issues of international mobility in Austria. This series of exclusive networking meetings intends to bring experts in this field together and promotes the exchange amongst them. One of the key factors that define the GMTs are insights and outlooks on where global mobility stands and where it is moving to.

Relocation Services Strohmayer has been a part of the Global Mobility world for almost 25 years. As the first designated relocation service provider in Austria, Erika Strohmayer brought an innovation to this country in 1991. Ever since then the company is being fuelled by this spirit of innovation. The whole team is always working on keeping up the highest quality standards in the industry. After the recent EuRA Quality Seal recertification, RSS continues the year with closing a gap in the Austrian networking scene by introducing the Global Mobility Talks.

The first event took place yesterday at the historic location “Looshaus” in the 1st district of Vienna. An exclusive group of global mobility experts were invited to participate in a session about “Working Across Borders”, which represents one of the biggest challenges in today’s inter connected world. The challenges don’t only appear in the private life of expats, but are especially noticeable in the workplace. How the expat and the local team deal with cultural differences is a key factor for the success of the placement.

GMT 10.03 (1 of 7)To ensure that the participants get closer to achieving this success, the keynote speech of the evening was held by the inspiring Laxmi Chaudhry. She has over 30 years of international experience in strategic and operational Human Resources Managment and has been a cross cultural trainer for over 10 years. Born in Tanzania, raised with an Indian background and having lived and worked across Europe, Asia and the US, Laxmi delighted the audience with her knowledge and experience. As HR director for the MacGraw-Hill Companies she was responsible for managing 13 countries in Asia Pacific and later 14 countries in Europe. With this fully international background, Laxmi was the perfect person to kick off the Global Mobility Talks and to give some insight into the difficulties HR Managers are facing every day and strategies to overcome them.

Our host for the evening was Anita Berger who is an experienced HR Manager and Director working for companies such as UniCredit, Coca-Cola, HBC and Konika Minolta. Anita is now an HR consultant and Trainer for the Management Development Institute Vienna (MDI) and is also teaching as visiting lecturer at the University of Innsbruck.

The Keynote and the Q&A afterwards were both received with great interest. The questions that still remained open were then discussed during the networking part over some finger food and drinks. The evening couldn’t have lasted long enough for us and the participants. At the end everybody went home with some new valuable information and new people in their network.
